Question by Patrick: Will the navy SEALs disqualify a trainee who has received LASIK eye surgery?
I am 16 years old and have plans to join the navy after graduation. i was planning on receiving LASIK before enlisting. a friend of mine seems to think that navy SEALs do not allow recruits who have received LASIK. he says i need to get a different procedure called PRK refractive surgery. is this true?

Your going to have to get PRK. That is what the military approves of which is what your going to have to get. There are not many differences between Lasik and PRK. I am doing AFROTC in the fall and have already talked with a few people about this. Your also not going to be eligible for Lasik or PRK until your at least probably 20. Since your eyes are still changing they are going to recommend you to wait. Best of luck to you though but I would suggest you look into PRK.
